Apollo Bay and The Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road is regarded as an entire region of Victoria and travelling the 300 plus klilometres of windy ocean front is the best way of exploring it. It is arguably the most scenic drive in the world.

There are lots of wonderful places in and near Apollo Bay, such as the Otway mountains where you can find Australia's oldest lighthouse and experience the Otway fly and wander 50 meters above the ground in the tree tops of some of the worlds tallest tress. This is also where you will see the 12 Apostles protruding from the sea, proving that bit by bit the sea is eating into the mainland.

Explore the exhilarating nearby waterfalls and rain forest. Walk along the Otway Range and enjoy the spectacular bird's eye view. There is a popular scenic drive along the Barham River road that follows the Bbarham River inland from the coast to the lush rainforest. The small seaside town of Marengo offers quiet sandy beaches just south of Apollo Bay.

Apollo Bay is popular as a surfing and a fishing town. Surfers will enjoy the amazing waves of the beaches. Fishers will enjoy the relaxing moments fishing in the ocean.

One thing that you shouldn't miss out on is the spectacular views from Mariner's lookout, situated in the hills behind Apollo Bay. Here you can go on short walk trails that look out onto the coastline. There are a couple of museums that you can visit and other attractions to keep you amazed. Apollo Bay is really a delightful place.

One road. One region. One Town in Australia that can truly take you away.

Apollo Bay!
